Greetings from the Mayor

Greetings from The Mayor’s Office

On behalf of Hamlet Council, Staff and the residents of our community, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Municipality of Cambridge Bay, the Heart of Canada’s Arctic.

Situated on the south coast of Victoria Island, along the Northwest Passage, Cambridge Bay is a vibrant, diverse and culturally rich community. Serving as the transportation, administrative and business centre of the Kitikmeot region, Cambridge Bay offers a unique blend of abundant natural resources, outstanding cultural opportunities and unparalleled growth potential.

With a population of 1,766, Cambridge Bay is the largest community in the Kitikmeot region. Significant infrastructure investment and community development projects have resulted in a population increase of 23% over the past decade. As the home of the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, headquarters for Polar Knowledge Canada, this population growth is expected to continue.

Created in 2014, our Municipal website is designed to be a portal to life in our community providing up-to-date community news, special event listings, business development and job opportunities. Whether you are a resident, a visitor to our community or exploring business opportunities, our new Municipal website should be one of your first stops for “all things Cambridge Bay”.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website, www.cambridgebay.ca, be sure to add us to your favorites and check back often for updates.

Thank you,

Pamela Gross
